Announcing: Waking Up

Announce the premise and main collaborators on the new season. This would have been when the script was finalized.

Hello friends,

I'm excited to share the next season of Spacetime Diaries, titled Waking Up. It's set about 15 years in the future, when a company starts selling a neural enhancement prosthetic to the consumer market.

Target release: October, 2022

I've been working on this story since August or so, and I think the additional time in story development is paying off. This project continues to excite me in its capacity to collaborate with the ones I admire and love, and I'm very happy to announce that Jenise Morgan, who guided you through last year's Meditations series, will be acting in this one too. Also, poet and dear friend Maria Teutsch has contributed poetry, and Chris Clark, a new but equally dear friend will voice a character. I have a few small parts yet to fill, so let me know if you're interested!

As we lead up to the October release, I plan to share a series of newsletters that explore some of the themes and areas of inquiry that went into the development of Waking Up. Right now the list includes: musical set theory, AI voiceover technology, memory, the book Godel, Escher, Bach (I know, forgive me), recent neuroscience research around consciousness, and the Taal system in Carnatic music. I'm definitely going to cut a few of these, as my schedule's pretty tight for this one, but I do get pretty excited reading about this stuff so perhaps you might, too.

Tight schedules remind me of the old adage, "time is money," which my grandfather taught me alongside "clothes make the man." To further both ends, I've created a Patreon which you can find here:

I'm inclined to make something special for the folks who join up there. I haven't decided what yet, possibly more detail on the research, or maybe some making-of content. If you have any thoughts or suggestions there, I'm all ears!

Thanks for listening and reading, and stay tuned for more :)
