Meet Darren Solomon
At age 19, Darren started his professional music career as the bassist for Ray Charles. Yes, that Ray Charles.
Later, he began working as a composer, earning a Best Music Clio and a Cannes Gold Lion. He and his co-composer Chris Jordão wrote the score for the Netflix series Invisible City, which premiered in the top 10 Netflix shows in Feb 2021.
Maintaining an avid interest in the intersection of art and technology, Darren created the crowdsourced web-based music project In Bb 2.0, which became a viral hit, featured on NPR, CNN, and the Evolution of The Music Video series at BFI, London.
As a venue for his songwriting and production, he created the project Science for Girls, which was featured in Electronic Musician and KCRW's Song of The Day.
... and on and on. I had the great luck of meeting this incredibly talented and ever-curious artist when he DJed my Ghan But Not Forgotten party. We stayed in touch, and at some point we hatched the idea to turn some sci fi guided meditations I was recording into a show.
Catch him this Wednesday, 7pm at Rubulad in Bushwick. He will share the stage with some truly brilliant musicians and help guide your journey through the ecosystems of an alien planet.
